The three state challenge is walking in three seperate states (PA, MD, WV) in one day. It involves starting in either PA or WV and walking all of MD (40.9) miles and finishing in the third state (WV or PA).
Certainly a very long day, but tried by many every year. Peace be with you |

Yes, I think I could do the three state challenge at 40.9 miles in one day. But the four state challenge I think is a bit much.

Are you people insane?
![]() Yes, yes we are ![]() I did the three state challenge and it wasn't that bad until I realized that it was dark and I still had 5 miles to go. Now 5 miles isn't that bad, but after hiking 35 miles starting at 5 am, never stopping for much of a break and the blisters are already forming on your feet because it was hot and you've been sweating all day... it took me about 19 hours and I zeroed in Pen-Mar park the next day. Yummy burgers at the concession stand

i never had any desire to do the 3 state challenge. in maryland you walk right by a hot shower in the state park. getting clean, and then relaxing and cooking a meal on one of picnic tables, seemed like a no brainer to me.

I prefer the shorter 3 state challenge of VA, WV and MD. Not much of a challenge but it is 3 states
